| Maurizio is a political scientist by education, with a background in media, and is currentñy working in the field of international affairs and development. He spent most of his life in western Europe, but also lived (cumulative stays of over six months) in Afghanistan, Central African Republic, Chad, Chile, Cuba, Russia, Pakistan, Sudan, and Timor-Leste; while he also spent prolonged periods of time (cumulative stays of over three months) in Albania, Bhutan, Cambodia, and Indonesia. He has held appointments or consultancies with academic institutions, inter-governmental organizations, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and media; and has also been an independent writer/journalist, and political consultant. He conducted studies on foreign policy issues, including for use by decision-makers in several countries. He published two books, and more are forthcoming. He has contributed to various academic journals, and published articles in the media, including national media in several countries. Maurizio's major areas of interest in the 1990s were Latin America and Central and Eastern Europe; more recrntly East Asia; and currently also West Asia, Central Asia, and some African countries. |
